Geometry
Curated by Matthem Belknap

The home computer and internet connectivity have contributed geatly towards a more connected and accesible visual world. A person from one terminal can see the Earth from space, view the buiding of atoms or even watch a web cam sunset from Fiji. The Internet has enabled us to see our world from a vast number of perspectives through a vast number of technologies. We sometimes forget that the visual world is composed of and also based around Geometry.

The show "Geometry" is compromised of the work of four artists. Their visual interpretations of forms vary as they direct their focus on this branch of mathematical thinking, but remain tied through common threads that emerge formally though the use of geometric shapes and the manipulation of planes in space.Lori Kella examines a barren and distant landscape while Virginia Fleming is concerned with particle, Jon Olivieri explores the minute on a grand scale, while Michael Ciervo, working close to human scale, invites us into equally mysterious environments. The mathematical and scientific influencedoes not emotionally sterilize but lends validity to these fictional realities.
